Degrees Held:

  • MSN in Nursing Education – Grand Canyon University, 2017
  • BSN – Rush University, 2007

Career Highlights:

  • The DAISY Award nomination, 2010
  • Pediatric ICU nurse for over 11 years

  • Why did you start teaching?

I love education. I have always been involved in teaching new graduate nurses in the hospital. So after almost 10 years of teaching nurses in the hospital setting, I decided to get my master's degree in Nursing Education and start teaching nursing students in hopes to help shape the future of nursing.

  • What advice would you give to nurses considering the online RN to BSN track?

I know it's hard to go back to school after years of working as a nurse in the hospital, but there is a lot of value in getting a BSN degree, and nurses are professionals who can only benefit from a BSN program.

  • Why are you interested in nursing? What drew you to this field?

I always say that the people who truly know what nurses do are the patients or relatives of patients because they get to be in the hospital and see the role of nurses up close. I was inspired by a wonderful group of ICU nurses who took care of my cousin when she was really sick. Those nurses were sharp, caring, and loving at the same time. They truly inspired me to go into nursing.
